In Kind Direct is a UK registered charity and our patrons' generosity as supporters is absolutely core to what we do. Without their support, much of our work simply would not be possible.

John Pattullo - Chair of the Board of Trustees

John Pattullo is a Non-Executive Director of Electrocomponents Plc and Chair of Marken Logistics and Chair of NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT). John was formerly CEO of CEVA Logistics, a global logistics service provider. Prior to CEVA, he was Chief Operating Officer, EMEA for DHL/Exel Supply Chain, the logistics arm of Deutsche Post, following 30 years at Procter and Gamble (P&G). John’s various roles at P&G included Supply Chain Vice President and he led all supply chain activities in Asia and held supply chain leadership for P&G’s global beauty care business.

Teresa Tideman - Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Marketing Committee

Teresa Tideman is a Non-Executive Director of STDupont and a Senior Associate of Quarto Advisors, an international retail consultancy. Teresa was formerly CEO of Style Group Brands, one of the leading British Fashion Houses. Prior to that she held a number of senior roles at the Walt Disney Company including Senior Vice President and Managing Director of The Disney Store and Managing Director of the Consumer Products division for EMEA. Teresa spent time working in Australia as Fashion Director for David Jones Ltd and is also a former Executive of Arcadia having spent 13 years with the Group working across a number of the fascias. Teresa is actively involved in a number of charities in the UK and has been a Trustee of In Kind Direct since 2010.

James Garvey - Chair of the Network Development Committee

Trustee since November 2014, James, a graduate from Trinity College Dublin, is Managing Director of Capital Markets at Lloyds Banking Group. His business works with relationship management teams to deliver financing and risk management solutions to clients. James is also a member of the Commercial Banking Executive Committee. He brings over 25 years of experience in financial services to the board, having lead teams in a number of institutions including Citi, West LB and UBS. In 2005 he was made a partner at Goldman Sachs within their newly formed Financing Group. James has a keen interest in the charity sector and is also a Trustee of the Lloyds Bank Foundation. He lives in London with his wife and three children.

Rachel Rhodes - Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee

Rachel has over 15 years’ experience in the mining sector, including 5 years as the Chief Financial Officer of London Mining plc. During that time at London Mining, Rachel was integral in raising Group and project finance of around $0.5bn, successfully negotiated the mining licenses and fiscal platforms with the respective governments for both the Sierra Leone and Greenland projects, and played a leading role in the listing of the Company on the AiM Board in November 2009. Previously, Rachel held key financial roles with Anglo American Plc where she successfully led major corporate transactions. Rachel is a chartered accountant, having qualified with Coopers and Lybrand in London in 1997.

Andy Rubin

Andy Rubin is Chairman, Pentland Brands and Non-Executive Director, JD Sports Fashion plc. Pentland Brands owns Speedo, Canterbury, Berghaus and Mitre and is the global footwear licensee for Lacoste and Ted Baker. He is a director of several charities.

Debra Allcock Tyler

Debra has been the Chief Executive of the Directory of Social Change (DSC) since 2001. DSC has a vision of an independent voluntary sector at the heart of social change. She is Founder Chair and Trustee of the Small Charities Coalition and a member of the Charity Commission’s SORP Committee. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (FRSA). She is a member of the Royal Institution and Liberty.

Ajay Kavan

Ajay Kavan has been at Amazon since 2011 and is currently Vice President of International Special Projects. Ajay has been in retailing for over 20 years and has helped build large multi-channel retail businesses in the UK and Asia in senior management and board roles. Ajay has a bachelor's degree in Computer technology from PSG College (India) and completed his business education at Manchester Business School and Harvard Business School. He has sat on the Board of In Kind Direct since 2012.

Amanda Mackenzie OBE

Amanda is CEO of Business In the Community following two years on loan from the Executive Committee of Aviva as Executive Advisor for ‘Project Everyone’, a project she is now chairs. Amanda is a graduate of London University and Insead. She has over 25 years of commercial experience, including Director roles at British Airways Airmiles, British Telecom and British Gas. She is also a non-executive director of Mothercare Plc. Most recently Amanda sat on Aviva's Group Executive for 8 years as CCMO where she was brought in to change the name from Norwich Union. She has been on the board of the National Youth Orchestra for 9 years and was a member of Lord Davies steering group to increase the number of women on boards. Amanda is a Life Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Fellow and Past President of the Marketing Society.

Tom Moody

Tom Moody is Vice President & Managing Director at P&G Northern Europe. Tom spent the first 4 years of his working life for P&G in the UK in a variety of sales and commercial roles. The second phase of his career was spent in Geneva, where he had spells in both Sales and Marketing, including as European Brand Manager for Always. He returned to the UK in 2004, where he ran P&G’s Beauty business and was responsible for integrating the Oral B business in the UK following the Gillette acquisition. He moved back into sales in 2008, as Commercial Director for P&G’s Tesco account before taking on overall responsibility for the company’s total UK Sales Operations as Sales Director, UK & Ireland in 2012. In 2013, Tom was promoted to General Manager, Sales, P&G Northern Europe before, in 2015, being appointed Vice President & Managing Director for P&G in Northern Europe. He is now responsible for P&G’s total business operations in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

Michael Ross

Michael Ross is co-founder and Chief Scientist of Order Dynamics, formerly called eCommera. Prior to Order Dynamics Michael was the CEO of Figleaves.com, the world's leading online retailer of multi-brand lingerie, underwear, hosiery and swimwear. Prior to Figleaves, Michael was at McKinsey and Company where he worked with media and retail clients in the early days of the Internet. Michael is also a non-executive director of Abcam plc and Warehouse Express Ltd.

Andrew Wright

After graduating in Engineering Science from Exeter College, Oxford, Andrew qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen in London where he worked in the small business practice. On leaving the profession, Andrew held a number of senior financial roles at leading investment and universal banks including Morgan Stanley, Deutsche Bank, Lehman Brothers and most recently UBS, where he was CFO of the Global Investment Bank based in London. After retiring from banking in early 2012, Andrew is now the Treasurer to Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.

Rebecca Salt

Rebecca Salt, Director of EU Ops Communications, Amazon - is responsible for external and internal communications across Amazon's growing network of fulfillment centres across Europe, based in Luxembourg. Prior to joining Amazon, Rebecca held the role of Chief Communications Advisor at United Biscuits and before that Group Head of Corporate Communications at the FTSE international infrastructure Group, Balfour Beatty. Previous to that, Rebecca spent more than a decade working in the transport and logistics industry, latterly with CEVA Logistics international in Amsterdam after five years within Exel and following Exel's acquisition by Deutsche Post she moved to DHL, based in Germany and had global responsibility for communications across DHL logistics and Express in Europe.

Amar Abbas

Youth Policy expert, Amar Abbas is Chief Executive Officer of University of Salford Students'​ Union. Until November 2016, he was CEO of award-winning youth development agency, Youth Action, which supports over 8,500 young people every year. He has worked extensively with the European Commission, the United Nations, the UK National Youth Agency and others on representing young people in the UK and abroad. Amar delivers training on a wide range of issues, from diversity and equality to developing young people as positive citizens. He has a Masters in Management and Leadership and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce (FRSA). Amar joins In Kind Direct's Board in September 2016.

Meet the team

Robin Boles LVO

Robin Boles LVO is Chief Executive of In Kind Direct since 1996. Robin is an American born tax lawyer/ MBA, naturalised in 1996 after living in Britain for 14 years. Financial services career, initially specialising in taxation of Americans abroad with what was then called Arthur Young, then Finance and Operations Director for a small asset management company working in four countries, latterly as Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Operations at what used to be called The Investors Compensation Scheme, the official rescue fund for defrauded investors. Married to a Scottish chiropractor, they live in Ayrshire and Surbiton.

James Williams

James Williams joined In Kind Direct in January 2008 as Head of Business Development before becoming Deputy Chief Executive in 2011. After starting his career as a political analyst and news writer, James moved to the voluntary and community sector in a variety of fundraising, corporate partnerships and management roles at the national health charity Diabetes UK and then at the youth charity Envision. He has also worked as a fundraising consultant and trainer. James is Trustee and Vice-Chair of Sussex-based social enterprise The Now Charity Group. He has a history degree from Cambridge University and postgraduate qualifications from Cass Business School and Insead and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufacturing and Commerce (FRSA).
