Retail Donation Initiative
NB: Disney Store matches currently available in Bath, Kingston, Peterborough, Plymouth, and Southampton.
Joining In Kind Direct means you can apply to take part in the Retail Donation Initiative. Where available, your charity is matched with a local branch of The Disney Store, entitling you to collect regular consignments of surplus goods - customer returns, end-of-lines and items which have slight defects.
Here’s what taking part in the RDI means to one of our charity partners:
Edinburgh’s CCLASP (Children with Cancer and Leukaemia Advice & Support for Parents)has been an In Kind Direct partner for five years and also has the Disney RDI (Retail Donation Initiative). Goods received include children’s clothes, toiletries, toys, games & videos, stationery. Through the RDI, CCLASP is able to make regular pick ups of goods from the Edinburgh Disney Store.
Each year the charity arranges a fundraising walk across the Forth Road Bridge. The children all wearing fancy dress from The Disney Store. “You can see us for miles – lots of Buzz Lightyears, Snow Whites (see photograph right) and Cinderellas – and the children all love with when the cars and lorries toot their horns and wave. It’s such a lovely day out and of course would not be so special without the Disney outfits," says Valerie Simpson.
“I cannot thank you and In Kind Direct enough for the fabulous toys etc we have had since joining the scheme. We have practically received all we require for the children’s Christmas presents. We are putting a Disney Beanie in each parcel for all the girls and the smaller boys. Last Christmas some of The Disney Store staff volunteered to come down one evening after work and helped us wrap the presents. It’s a tall order wrapping presents for more than 200 children.
As Valerie explains, “For a small charity such as ours which receives no government funding, we find the expense of Christmas a great drain. Thanks to the fabulous service you provide we are able to continue giving the children lovely presents not only at Christmas but throughout the year without jeopardising all the other services we provide.”
