New Chairman Appointed to In Kind Direct
Christopher Hyman, Chief Executive of Serco Group plc, has been appointed Chairman of In Kind Direct.
Christopher Hyman replaces David Thomas and starts his term as chairman on Monday 2nd July 2007
Commenting on the appointment Robin Boles, CEO, In Kind Direct said: “This year In Kind Direct celebrates 10 years of operations and has achieved some crucial milestones of which we can all be very proud. I am delighted that Chris has agreed to accept the chairmanship and am confident his valuable insight and experience will assist us to maximise performance in securing a constant supply of the core products needed by our charity partners and very deserving people they help.”

In my time as a trustee of In Kind Direct I have had the opportunity to see the great work they are able to do. By building long term relationships with businesses to secure donations of surplus goods the team have established a broad network of charity partners who benefit enormously from these goods. As chairman I intend to work closely with the trustees to provide direction and ensure the charity continues to go from strength to strength in its 10th anniversary year and beyond.”

In Kind Direct
In Kind Direct was founded by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1996 to distribute companies’ surplus goods to charities, helping to avoid unnecessary waste. It is the only organisation coordinating in kind giving on a UK-wide scale. Since the charity started, £60 million of goods have been donated by over 700 companies, including many household names. Over 4,000 charities have benefited and are able to help over 1 million people every year. These represent every kind of cause, including under-privileged children, sickness and disability, family welfare, homelessness, emergency relief, community support and job skills training.
