Chairman receives Royal accolade

Chris Hyman, Chairman of In Kind Direct, received the honorary award of The Prince’s National Ambassador 2008 at the Awards for Excellence dinner at the Royal Albert Hall.

Hyman has been Chairman of In Kind Direct for a year, and is CEO of Serco Group plc, the FTSE 250 services company. He has been pivotal in formulating the business plan for the charity for the next three years which will cement its position as leader in the in-kind giving sector and ensure financial self-sustainability.

In Kind Direct, one of The Prince’s Charities, receives donated surplus stock from manufacturers and retailers for redistribution to charities. All charity partners pay is a handling charge for the service on each pack. The goods can be used either to run the charity or to give to beneficiaries.

The award is given by The Prince of Wales to individuals who demonstrate unique qualities with the ability to bring about dramatic change in the organisations they lead.
