What donors say

Argos

One of our star first-time donors in 2005 was Argos, who donated a fantastic range of products ranging from personal CD and stereo equipment to children’s toys.

Within three months of receiving the initial donation over 80% of the items had been requested and over 1,300 individual product packs had been distributed to more than 280 charities right across the UK.

Says Community Affairs Manager Lorna Liggett,  "Argos Retail Group receives hundreds of requests from charities wanting donations of stock. By working with In Kind Direct at a national level, we know that our gift in-kind donation can help many more charities across the UK than we could possibly hope to manage.

"In Kind Direct enables us to track and report the impact and benefits of our donations. The relationship with In Kind Direct also helps us towards achieving our corporate responsibility policy of  extending the longevity and reuse of products.

"Argos Retail Group is proud to be supporting In Kind Direct in making a difference to those who need their support.”

"ELC donates toys to In Kind Direct because we know they will go to a good home. Because the Charities choose the products from a catalogue and they have to pay a token amount they only have the products they really want.

"We get very many individual requests for product donations, but it is hard to ensure that the right product goes to the right people. Therefore we donate everything to In Kind Direct. When we write to charities to say sorry but no we can’t donate any toys to them, we let them know about In Kind Direct and how they may be able to access products by joining the scheme.

"Many of the kids that benefit from our toys that the Charities have received don’t have access to our toys at home. We sell fantastic toys that open up children’s minds and help them be all they can be. We think it’s important that they get as wide an audience as possible. We are delighted to be able to work with In Kind Direct to help the kids in communities through out the UK."

When Bradford-based Provident Financial wanted to donate over 3,500 micro scooters to needy families at Christmas, it turned to In Kind Direct to help identify those who could benefit.

In no time the scooters were speeding to our warehouse and within a few weeks they were en route to dozens of charities throughout the UK.
