Money4Computers Scheme

Did you know that over a million computers from the UK end up in landfill every year? That’s enough to give away two to every person living in the city of Manchester!
In Kind Direct has teamed up with Money4Computers.com - a project run by the company RDC to combat this problem by offering charity partners the chance to raise money through recycling unwanted computers in their local community.
That’s right, not only will you be helping to stop computers going to landfill, but also raising much needed cash for your charity in the process!
Charities can benefit from the scheme by collecting unwanted laptop and desktop systems from their offices and from members of the local community.
Once your charity has collected 15 or more computers RDC will collect, sort and recycle them, destroying all personal data. A payment will be made back to your charity depending on the value of the items donated.
The benefits
- Cash for your charity – your charity will receive a payment back on computers collected, which will vary depending on their value. In Kind Direct will also benefit from a payment made by RDC which will help us deliver our work for charities across the UK.
- Personal data is safely destroyed - All personal data is either destroyed using RDC’s government approved data wiping software, or by their onsite shredder.
- Help the environment – all items are disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. Laptops and desktop systems received under the scheme are either resold in the second hand user market or 100% recycled. Nothing is sent to landfill.
How it works
- Collect unwanted computers from your offices and local community – to help you we have prepared some marketing materials to download so you can advertise the scheme [ Download a poster; Download a flyer ]
- Once you have fifteen or more computers, complete this form and email it to money4computers@rdc.co.uk who will arrange collection from you
- Once the computers have been valued and processed you will be notified of the payment which can be made to you. A confirmation of this payment will be sent via email to a nominated contact in a Pricing Report.
- Your charity will then need to invoice Money4Computers for the amount detailed in the Pricing Report
- Money4Computers will then make a payment over to you within 14 days.
