Bumper Argos Donation for Hull Gulf Veterans
Hull’s National Gulf Veterans and Families Association (NGVFA) has recently benefited from the special relationship between multi-channel retailer Argos and the charity In Kind Direct.
The NGVFA is busy making up gift bags for 90 children with Argos donated goods taken from the In Kind Direct catalogue which offers its network of good causes a range of products for which they pay a small handling charge, which includes delivery to their doors.
The NGVFA is holding its AGM from 10 – 14 March at Pontins in Blackpool. “It’s a respite break and an annual highlight for beneficiaries, which they all really look forward to,” explains the charity’s Maria Rusling. “Each year we put together gifts for the veterans, their partners and children and choose things from In Kind Direct’s catalogue over the preceding months - we couldn’t afford the quantity and variety of goods if we had to pay high street prices. This time they’re getting the Argos CD players, games and toys. They’ll be thrilled!"
When Argos wanted to donate all kinds of products to good causes throughout the UK, it turned to the charity In Kind Direct to help identify those who could benefit as they had the ability to reach many more worthy causes than Argos could support alone.
In no time the CD players and audio systems, toys and vacuum cleaners donated by Argos were speeding to the charity’s Oxfordshire warehouse where they were sorted into 1,600 individual packs. Within weeks they were en route to hundreds of charities.
Lorna Liggett, community affairs manager at Argos commented: "In Kind Direct is a great organisation for Argos to work with as it enables us to make the most of our goods in-kind donations. It’s such a simple and reliable way to help all kinds of good causes all over the country and we’re delighted that the NGVFA has benefited in this way.”
