Refugee Crisis Update

In response to the current refugee crisis across Europe In Kind Direct is working with charities that support refugees both in the UK and abroad, as well as companies who are keen to provide all the help they can through product donations.

Over the last few weeks, many companies have generously donated goods to In Kind Direct to support charities working with refugees. Among them are: Amazon.co.uk. Bridges Community Ventures (Sealskinz), Church & Dwight, Colgate Palmolive, GlaxoSmithKline, GV Health, Meyer Group, P&G, Pentland Brands, QVC and The North Face.

At In Kind Direct, we are working hard to get products where they are needed. Products donated are already making a real difference on the ground.

One charity to benefit is the Separated Child Foundation, a small UK charity providing emotional and practical support to young refugees and asylum seekers who have been orphaned or separated from their parents. Thanks to support from In Kind Direct's donors, SCF has been able to provide warm clothing, toothpaste and other essential toiletries to young people recently arrived in the UK.

Can your company help?

In the short term, we are focussing our efforts on securing some specific items still urgently required. These are:

Blankets, towels, bedding, sleeping bags, torches

Socks and underwear

Baby care

Personal care

Razors, shaving foam, toilet tissue

Kitchen equipment

Cutlery and cooking utensils

First aid/medical equipment

Items must have sufficient shelf life

We are only able to accept new, unused items.

Also urgently needed is funding for the costs of distributing products to charities. To find out more and to donate, please visit our Just Giving page.

In supporting charities working with refugees, we remain conscious of the continuing needs of the thousands of other charities that rely on In Kind Direct and our donors’ generosity.
