Multi-Supplier Hygiene Poverty Campaign in Tesco

We’re back with our 5th hygiene poverty campaign in thousands of Tesco stores around the UK with Unilever , Essity, Haleon, Kimberly Clark, Edgewell and Procter and Gamble to support our mission to reduce hygiene poverty for families in the UK.

1 in 4 UK households with children are living in hygiene poverty, that’s 2.2m families who are facing impossible decisions to eat, heat or keep clean everyday.

From 15th February to 1st April all 6 suppliers will be donating one hygiene product to us, for every two selected products purchased by Tesco shoppers, in-store or online* Our campaign aims to make it easier than ever for people to make a difference during their weekly shop.

What is hygiene poverty?

Hygiene poverty is not being able to afford everyday personal hygiene products many of us take for granted. Many people experiencing hygiene poverty face the impossible choice to heat, eat or keep clean on a daily basis.

How will this campaign help?

Our hygiene poverty campaign continues to expand as more suppliers join us in our mission. To date we have unlocked 3 million personal hygiene product donations including period products, shampoo, toilet roll and nappies.

The additional manufacturers mean a wider range of personal care, household and baby products will be donated, which we know are out of reach for millions of people.

The campaign will enable us to distribute millions of personal care essentials to our charitable network, from well-known brands including Andrex, Aquafresh, Bodyform, Comfort, Corsodyl, Kleenex, Pampers, Persil, Radox, Sensodyne, Simple, Sure, Tena and Wilkinson Sword, providing communities with the hygiene essential they need to live clean and well.

How can you support?

From February 15th – 1st April 2025, the six manufacturers will donate one product to In Kind Direct for every two selected products purchased in-store or online in Tesco*.

The promotion will be live in over 1,300 stores across the UK and will unlock an estimated 1.6 million products, making it easier than ever for people to make a difference during their regular weekly shop.

For every 2 nominated products* purchased in 1 transaction, in participating UK Tesco stores, on Tesco.com or on the Tesco app between 15th February 2025 & 1st April 2025, 1 promoter will donate 1 hygiene product** to In Kind Direct. This will be calculated at the end of the campaign. Products donated will include the nominated products or equivalent product.

Maximum donation volume is 1.6 million product donation units across all promoters.

In Kind Direct is a registered charity in England and Wales no 1052679.

**Hygiene Product donation units – for each promoter

Kimberly-Clark Limited will donate 2 toilet rolls (equivalent of their smallest pack size)

Haleon PLC will donate 1 x 50ml tube of toothpaste, 1 x 75ml tube of toothpaste, 1 x 100ml tube of toothpaste or 1 toothbrush product (specific products to be determined by Haleon based on stock availability at time of donating).

Unilever UK Limited will donate 1 product in any format chosen by Unilever at its discretion from any brand within its Beauty & Wellness, Personal Care and Homecare ranges.

Essity UK Limited will donate 1 consumer unit (10 pads) of either a Bodyform Ultra Towel or Bodyform Maxi Towel

Edgewell Personal Care Limited will donate 1 shaving product for example a pack of razors, blades or shaving cream.

Procter & Gamble will donate one pack of Pampers nappies or wipes, with up-to 80% of the total final donations, nappies.
