Power Kind in your community

The detrimental effect of the cost-of-living crisis is impacting charitable organisations across the UK. More and more organisations are experiencing a reduction in income compared to the start of the year. They are also experiencing unprecedented increases in demand for their services with the number of people seeking support on the rise, and being faced with additional running costs to keep their services going.
We’ve launched our Powered by Kind campaign to urge more charitable organisations, such as registered charities, community groups, foodbanks and schools, to join our network to access a wide range of consumers products, which they can give away to the people they support or use to keep their services running.
We currently support a network of over 4,500 charitable organisations across the UK, full of inspiring groups who work within their communities to ensure the needs of local people can be met every day. We know a product alone cannot be the solution to hardship, but getting the right product at the right time can help to give someone the power to get back on their feet. Joining our network can also help organisations save money, so more funds can be focused on support and services.

Our charitable network is such an incredible part of the work we do. As part of our #PoweredByKind campaign we wanted to shine a spotlight on 4 fantastic organisations in our network and the wonderful work that they do. Keep an eye out for them featuring on our social channels too!

Waste Not Want Not Poole community group in Poole, Dorset.
‘Our mission is to support members of the community, people and their families that suffer from insufficient disposable income, and who need support in coping with life. We are a social supermarket which enables our members to have the choice of food, they would not normally be able to afford. This leads to a greater sense of dignity, choice, and control and facilitates budgeting skills.’

Oasis Community Hub and Gardens serving disadvantaged estate areas in Worksop, Nottingham.
‘We have over 30 projects for people of all ages from 0 to 100 and … toddlers, kids, people with disabilities, youth, dementia, elderly, education, unemployment, men in crisis, women in crisis, community events. We have been well served by In Kind Direct for many years now and they have saved us a fortune in products we have used.’

The Oak Foundation, North London
‘Products from In Kind Direct truly are a life line. We have a family where mum was pregnant and was getting stressed about baby products she needed. We supported her with pack of baby product, clothes and nappies. This made a great difference to her stress level. She said” I feel I have a family in this country”. Quite often these small gestures have wider impact on people’s life, emotional and financially.’

TEES Community Centre a local charity based in Redcar & Cleveland
‘We support people with products, giving people dignity, respect, confidence and pride. Families with two or more girls and mum, told us it would be a choice of education, food or heating. When the period products are needed, a child will miss school rather than risk being caught out without. Incontinence became a huge issue during lockdown, as the only locally known charity dealing in this, everyone turned to TEES for support’.
