About Stand Together Network

Stand Together Network (STN) is a values-led, grassroots charity supporting individuals and families facing homelessness, inequality, and exclusion. Working on the frontlines for over a decade, their mission is to tackle the root causes of homelessness and help individuals rebuild their lives with dignity and long-term stability.

Based in a Community House in Edmonton, North London, STN offers free support, housing advice, ESOL classes, training, employment guidance and wellbeing services (including essential product distribution) to individuals and families in need.

Our shared impact

Since joining our network in 2022, STN have unlocked nearly £92,000 in savings by accessing products though In Kind Direct, which enables them to redirect these funds to provide greater support to their community. They regularly access a wide range of products, from branded clothing, hygiene essentials and period products to skincare, makeup products and bedding.

Sue Halawa, the CEO of STN, told us that “The items we access through In Kind Direct are donated directly to vulnerable individuals, including people who are homeless, unemployed, single mothers, and survivors of domestic abuse.

Being able to source essential hygiene products from In Kind Direct, such as OGX shampoo, makes a huge difference to our community. Many of the families we support are living in hygiene poverty and to be able to give them shampoo to wash their hair means they can feel clean and confident, and relieves some of their financial burden, allowing them to spend more on food and bills.”

How STN use products for social good

Stand Together Network supports around 30 people each week, with individuals receiving support for up to two years. Referrals come from a range of sources, including social prescribers, GPs, local libraries, and job centres.

Many of those they work with are living in poverty in areas of deprivation, often facing additional challenges such as language barriers and temporary accommodation. Some are single parents, and many encounter difficulties securing employment or progressing into skills-based roles due to limited experience. The organisation also provides support to individuals affected by domestic abuse.

The products they access through In Kind Direct play an important role in this support. As well as helping meet essential everyday needs, these items enable the team to offer small gifts and comforts that foster a sense of dignity and show people they are valued and cared for.

“The skincare products we accessed from Neutrogena are amazing and so important for our community. The majority of people we support across Haringey and Enfield are vulnerable and struggling with poverty so would not be able to afford these. Being able to share these high-quality products free of charge puts a huge smile on their face, supporting their wellbeing and promoting dignity, and reminding them that someone is looking out for them.”
