Continuing to keep people clean, safe and well
An update on In Kind Direct's service
There is no doubt that responding to the coronavirus pandemic has been a huge test here at In Kind Direct. With the help of our product donors and funders, and a huge team effort we have continued to rise to the challenge and expand our service in the face of unprecedented demand.
Our impact during lockdown
We distributed £2.5m worth of essential supplies to over 1,720 charitable organisations in the first 8 weeks of lockdown
Over 500 - charities got in touch to join our network in April, more than 4 times the usual number
10x - We've received over 10 times the volume of goods donations versus April last year
Adapting our service
With the need to ramp up operations, we have strengthened our systems to ensure we continue to provide a steady supply of life’s essentials to our network. We have:
- Invested in additional packing facilities and moved to a double shift at our warehouse to keep up and ensure social distancing is maintained.
- Secured new pro-bono overflow storage which enables us to respond quickly and efficiently to offers of new donations from companies.
- Temporarily focused our online catalogue site so our warehouse team can pick and pack orders and get them on their way across the UK more quickly.
- Confirmed all our suppliers and couriers have and robust plans in place to keep getting goods out.
Keeping in touch
During our crisis response, we have been communicating more regularly with our charity partners, product donors and funders to place us in the best position to proactively manage the changing landscape and needs of those we all support. We are strengthening and building new partnerships every day and thank all who are working with us to get essential supplies to where they are most needed. Here are just a few thank-yous from across our UK charity network:
We have to give a big shout out to In Kind Direct. Without their constant support to us and many other organisations we could not possibly meet the needs of our communities during the pandemic. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
