In Kind Direct 2018 – Year in Review

Posted on Posted in News

As the year draws to a close, we have been reflecting on what made 2018 such a successful one here at In Kind Direct.

The product giving revolution continued to gain momentum, with over 35 new donors joining the family in 2018. We received some particularly impressive donations from the likes of Amazon – who helped over 1,000 charities benefit from home and kitchenware – and Lindt, who provided In Kind Direct’s biggest ever chocolate donation, which included over 400,000 festive figures (Santas, Bunnies, Reindeer and Teddies).

In total, In Kind Direct distributed over £15 million (in estimated retail value) of products in 2018 and toilet roll, in particular, was popular – charities received enough to stretch from our London office to Canada! With many of their beneficiaries being unable to afford the basic essentials, it is these products we hope and need to get more of in 2019.

In Kind Direct’s network of charity partners spans all corners of the UK and continues to grow. We have now helped over 9,500 charities in total, with 1,000 more joining in 2018. Orders were delivered to charities from the Isle of Wight to the Isle of Skye! Special thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery. Their funding made a huge impact, helping support 100 charities across the UK this year.

In Kind Direct gained its first ever ambassador in 2018, in Sarah Willingham. The entrepreneur and former Dragon not only helped promote the product giving message, but also joined 31 charities and 125 volunteers in attending our Big Community Picnic, where she was one of 300 attendees to wear bunny ears! The event brought together charities, their beneficiaries and donor companies, allowing them a unique opportunity to spend time together.

We’d like to thank our generous product donor companies and funders, who helped us make 2018 one of our most successful and memorable years ever. We hope to build on this in 2019 as we’d love to do more for our charity partners and their beneficiaries.
