Product Giving Alliance

Product Giving Alliance

Charity Digital - FareShare - In Kind Direct - International Health Partners

Working with Charity Digital, FareShare and International Health Partners, we have launched the Product Giving Alliance. In the last year alone (April 2019-2020), we estimate that together, the value of goods and services we have provided to charities supporting vulnerable people was worth more than £59m.

Our mission

We aim to unlock the maximum social good from surplus and donated products and services, by redistributing these in an efficient way to the appropriate beneficiaries.

How we’ll achieve it

Members will work in partnership to meet the needs of the voluntary sector, as well as making it as easy as possible for manufacturers and retailers to provide much needed products and services, across all sectors – consumer products and equipment, food, IT and healthcare – to front-line charities supporting vulnerable people.

The Alliance will champion Product Giving, highlighting its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), reputational and environmental benefits to business, as well as its proven positive impact on employee engagement.

COVID-19 response

During the pandemic, frontline charities are even in greater need of donated goods and services. We expect this need will remain high in the aftermath of the crisis, when more people will face financial hardship, and charities will be under increased strain.

Charity Digital provides software, software services and PC hardware and accessories to charities. The products and services they distribute include:

 - Software services

- PC Hardware and accessories

FareShare is the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, which supplies over 11,000 charities with surplus food from the food industry.  The products they distribute include:

- Food

- Drinks

In Kind Direct is the UK charity providing life’s essentials to charities working at home and overseas. The products we distribute include:

- Household, cookware and small appliances

- Health and Beauty including some OTC medicines

- Sports

- Nursery and Maternity

- Clothing and Footwear

- Work and Office

- Entertainment, toys and books

International Health Partners (IHP) redistributes donated medicines and health supplies. The products they distribute include:

- Prescription medicines

- Over-the-counter medicines including vitamins

- Medical supplies, instruments and devices

During this crisis, the need to keep clean, well and connected has never been greater. Communities that were vulnerable before lockdown will continue to be affected long after most people’s lives have returned to normal. By joining forces we’ll be able to quickly signpost charities to get the products or services they need - whether that’s software, vital food, medical or household supplies to keep delivering their services.
